Two days is enough to see Jaipur's essential sights without rushing, provided you plan the route rather than bouncing between neighbourhoods. This itinerary is timed from a C-Scheme base — Diggi Palace's neighbourhood — which sits conveniently between the old walled city and the newer parts of town.
Day 1 morning: Amber Fort
Start early. Amber Fort, roughly 30–40 minutes from C-Scheme by road, is best experienced before the mid-morning tour groups arrive. Give yourself two to three hours to walk the courtyards, the Sheesh Mahal (Mirror Palace), and the fort's ramparts looking down over Maota Lake.
Day 1 afternoon: City Palace and Jantar Mantar
Head back into the city for the City Palace complex, still partly a royal residence, and the adjoining Jantar Mantar observatory — a UNESCO World Heritage Site of 18th-century astronomical instruments. Both sit within walking distance of each other in the old walled city.
Day 1 evening: Hawa Mahal and the bazaars
Hawa Mahal's honeycomb facade is best photographed in late-afternoon light from the street or a rooftop café opposite. Afterward, wander into Johari Bazaar or Bapu Bazaar for jewellery, textiles and leather goods before heading back to C-Scheme for dinner.
Day 2 morning: heritage and gardens
Spend the morning slower — a walk through a heritage property's gardens and courtyards, like those at Diggi Palace, gives a sense of Rajput residential architecture that the fort-and-palace sightseeing circuit doesn't always show. It's also a good time to arrange a driver for the afternoon's slightly further destinations.
Day 2 afternoon: Nahargarh and Albert Hall
Nahargarh Fort, perched on the Aravalli hills above the city, offers the best panoramic view of Jaipur — worth the drive up for sunset. On the way back, the Albert Hall Museum in Ram Niwas Garden is a good stop for Rajasthani art and artefacts if time allows.
Day 2 evening: rooftop dinner
Close the trip with a rooftop dinner overlooking the old city skyline, or a quieter courtyard meal back at your hotel — Rajasthani thali is the meal to have at least once before you leave.
